Limbo 2 to be Called Limbo 2, Consists of Only One Dark Screen

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Limbo creators PlayDead announced today that their next game would not be a new IP, as they had previously announced. Instead, they announced Limbo 2, the sequel to everyone's (Yes, we mean you as well. What, you didn't like it? What a dick.) favorite indie game since Braid or whatever the kids were talking about before Limbo came out. PlayDead CEO Dino Patti explained their decision in a press release I forgot to check earlier today.

"We started working on something fans would really get behind, but the more we worked on something new the more we realized the only thing fans would get behind no matter what was more Limbo. Even considering the ending we gave Limbo, PlayDead has already thought of seven ways to expand the Limbo universe. Our first idea was a Limbo vs. Mario at The Tour De France game, but Nintendo replied to our email with an animated .gif of a hand extending its middle finger repeatedly."

Patti also explains the studio's current creative direction with the game later in the press release, past the point most sites bother to read before copy-pasting. But we know better. Boy, do we at GI know better.

"What people really liked about the first Limbo was how dark and atmospheric it was. Well, what's more atmospheric than a screen that's completely dark for two hours? We're planning on giving the player an achievement every ten minutes to keep them engaged throughout the entire game, for a total of 200 points. That alone should help us sell like a million copies."

Sites around the internet are already praising the decision unanimously. In fact, reviews are already in for the just-announced title from over 30 websites, with an average Metacritic score of 105. An anonymous source agreed to explain his publication's decision to give the game an eleven out of ten.

"Well, none of us at [REDACTED] really felt like we needed to play the game in order to review it. We already knew what the game was going to be, so why play it? And about the 11... well, we gave Limbo a 10 out of 10, so, if this game was supposed to be better, then... you know. This also opens our scale to infinite possibilities of increasing quality and likely score inflation. Also... I'm really looking forward to those 200 points. I really love points."

Limbo 2 will be out on XBLA, PSN, WiiWare, iPhone, Android phones, and graphing calculators on March 12, 2010.

About The Inquisitor

The Game Inquisitor is the most respected news source for video games around. We report the news that most game sites are afraid to talk about. Back during the release of Wii Music, we were the only site that had the balls to write about how Miyamoto's pact with the devil had expired and he was officially cut off from his free stream of ideas.

If you want to keep getting lied to, then go ahead and read those other sites. We'll still be here, reporting the real news.
